Shopping and Entertainment in Poland (Suwalki)

Shopping and entertainment in Poland go well together in Suwalki. We love Poland very much – we often go here for entertainment and vacations. And we combine holidays with shopping! We want to share with you the entertainment and the best shopping places of Suwalki, a town near Lithuania!

Shopping and entertainment in Poland in Suwalki – everything you need to know can be found in this article.

Suwalki is Very Close to Lithuania

Suwalki is 200 km from our house, and we can get there in 2.5 hours. Therefore, they are accessible to us faster and easier than the coast of Lithuania. It takes us the same amount of time to visit our grandmother in Siauliai. So you understand very well that the distance is short, which is why we visit there so often. Shopping and entertainment in Poland are just at our fingertips in Suwalki.

IMPORTANT! Although the trip is not long, it is still a foreign country, so be sure to have your identity cards or passports and car documents with you when you go. Recently, after the start of the refugee crisis, both Lithuanian and Polish officials often stop and check documents and car trunks!

Movement Arena Suwałki is a real world of movement, entertainment, acrobatics and parkour! This is a place for absolutely every child, young and old, who wants to spend time actively. Children’s area (from 1 year of age). Ideal for children from 3 to 12 years old, it will become every child’s favorite place! Lots of fun for the little ones (monkey climbing, sliding in the ball pool, pontoon and tube skating and many more).

Jumping and trampoline area (from 7 to 12 years old). Amenities: The space is perfect for families with children of all ages. For the convenience of visitors, there are safe, clean and comfortable changing rooms with lockers, toilets, as well as a toilet with a changing table. There are tables, sofas and chairs right next to the children’s play areas, where parents can relax and comfortably watch their children playing. In another recreation area, parents, while waiting for their children (especially the older ones), can have fun playing slot machines or simply watching the whole hall from above.

THE BEST entertainment for children in Suwałkiour review of Movement Arena Suwałki. We visited and highly recommend it!

Suwalki Water Park

One of the funniest entertainments in Poland is in Suwalki – and that’s the Suvalki Water Park. Suwalki water park is ideal for smaller children. Children are allowed to go down all slides, there are no height restrictions. Shallow descents into the water are perfectly adapted. The park is really ideal for five-year-old Matthew! For adults there are several saunas and a jacuzzi. The prices are really low – two hours for adults – 25 zlotys (about 5.5 euros).

Entertainment for Children

For us, entertainment in Suwalki in Poland is never complete without a visit to the Suvalkai Plaza shopping center. There is an impressive skating rink spread over three floors of the shopping center. The rink is free and really gets a lot of attention from children.

In the same shopping center there is also a small but fun playroom called Kinderplaneta. 2 hours of entertainment for a child costs from 5 to 7 euros, depending on the day of the week. A really fun place and a great way to spend time with your child while you shop. In good weather, it’s fun to take a walk in the city as there are interactive fountains in the city’s central square.

Half Price – a New Store in Suwalki

If you go abroad or to Poland for shopping, you definitely know the store Tkmaxx. This is a branded goods outlet, where goods are half the price of chain stores. And during sales, you can find real pearls for almost a few or tens of euros. The closest store to Lithuania could be found in Bialystok. Just recently, an almost identical Tkmaxx store Half price opened in Poland!

And in my opinion, the product selection is even bigger and better than Tkmaxx. And MOST IMPORTANTLY, this store opened its doors on January 26 in Suwalki. Although we haven’t had the chance to visit it yet, we did visit this store while visiting Łódź. In order for you to understand how good this store is, I will share my pearls. Since it’s the sales season, there are a lot of sale items here too. And when you buy two products, you get the third one for free. So I bought my daughter a DKNY jeans jumpsuit, a Convers jumpsuit and a DKNY autumn jacket and I only paid 26 euros for the three items!

So, shopping in Poland in Suwalki will now be even more fun! The store is located in the Multishop shopping center.

Shopping in Suwalki

There are two larger shopping centers in Suwalki – Suwalki Plaza and Multishop Suwalki.

In Multishop Suwalki, you will also find the previously described Halfprice store, as well as inexpensive clothing stores – Kik, Tedi, Pepco, House, Cropp and others. There are also two large hardware stores here. Our favorite food store Biedrionka and a very large household goods store OBI are also located nearby.

Suwalki Plaza is a large shopping mall, which, in addition to shops, has many cafes, a children’s playroom and our favorite skating rink. Here you will find H&M, Pandora, Medicine, and Reserved. There is a very nice children’s store called SMYK too. We highly recommend you to visit it, because you can definitely find great products at very good prices, especially during the sales.

Food stores in Suwalki

Many go to Poland to shop not only for industrial and food products. There are three main grocery stores – Biedrionka, Kaufland and Lidl.

Be sure to download the store’s electronic discount cards to your mobile phones before your trip! Currently, the most popular grocery stores (Kaufland, Lidl, Biedrionka) allow you to register an account with a Polish card with a Lithuanian phone number! If you don’t want to register the cards, just search the Internet, you will find pictures of discount cards in various groups or forums! All you have to do is scan them at checkout and they work great. You can really save a lot – often when buying with a card, stores apply really good discounts or 1+1 promotions.

Most of all, we like Biedrionka. The store, similar to the stores of the Lidl chain, does not have a weighing department, but the selection of food products is extremely large. We also buy Polish diapers Dada here. They are really high quality, we bought them for our first child, and now we use them for our second child. They often have a 1+1 promotion, and the price without the promotion is really good.

You can also find many German goods that we like in the Kaufland shopping network. The assortment in Lidl Polish stores is similar to the Lithuanian Lidl assortment. However, you will find other products as well.

Other Useful Information

When we are in Poland, we always visit the pharmacy. Here the prices are significantly different from Lithuania and you can buy some medications half as cheap as in Lithuania. Prescriptions issued in Lithuania are also valid in Polish pharmacies. However, you need to have them in paper form, you should visit the Apteka Gemini. As far as we have shopped there, the prices are usually the best.

We go to Suwalki through Lazdijai border post. Immediately behind it on the left are two exchange offices. In them, the course is similar. Changing a larger amount always gives a better rate, even without negotiation. And if you exchange a large amount, you can safely negotiate. These exchange offices are located immediately after crossing the Lithuanian-Polish border. In the second house, further away from Lithuania, the workers have lollipops for children. So even though we change a small amount, we always stop.

After passing the exchange a little further, you will find the Vynoteka store which is very familiar to us. Here you will find not only Vynoteka-specific goods, but also meat and grocery products at really good prices. And the prices of Vynoteka’s main assortment are significantly better than in Lithuania.

Where to Eat and Stay in Suwalki

We highly recommend trying Kuchnia Tatarska u Alika. It is a mix of Tatar, Slavic and oriental cuisine. Very nice environment and the food is really delicious. Portions are really big. Further from the city center. In summer, there is a terrace and a playground for children.

Where to eat in Suwalki

There are a lot of fast food cafes in Suwalki plaza, so if you’re in a hurry, you’ll definitely find somewhere to eat. Not far from Suwalki Plaza is Browar Północny, and it’s a very popular place. The food is very tasty. If you are looking for homemade food or traditional Polish dishes and a country-style environment, Karczma Polska is just the place for you.

For the night, we usually choose a hotel near the Suwalki water park – we recommend you choose the Loft1898 hotel. The hotel is very tidy, well equipped, very tasty breakfast.

If we are going with a larger company, we choose these apartments – Apartment Park nad Hańczą. These apartments are furnished in style and they can accommodate up to 8 people.
