How to Cheaply Entertain Yourself and Children in Poland?

It is worth having fun in Poland not only because the choice of various amusement parks, museums and attractions is larger than in Lithuania, but also because most things in Poland cost much cheaper.

Do you find yourself asking how to economically entertain children in Poland? We will help you! We will tell you things about the myTU payment card and provide tips tested by us.

How to Economically Entertain Children in Poland?

First Tip – Buy Tickets in Advance

We advise you to buy tickets for your entertainment in advance, as almost all theme parks and museums offer this option. This will save you money, time and you will not have to stand in lines at the cash registers. Please note that tickets to the Copernicus Museum must be purchased in advance, as they simply run out. Tickets to the Mandoria amusement park are 5 euros cheaper online than at the box office, so a larger family can save quite a bit of money.

The second tip – Buy with the myTU Payment Card

Want to save even more money? Look into the myTU payment card before your trip to Poland. It will not cost you, and it will help you save money too! When buying tickets for entertainment in Poland and paying with cards of ordinary Lithuanian banks, you will usually have to pay an additional fixed or percentage fee for currency conversion to the bank. Although it is not big (about 2.5% on average), think about it. You will pay for tickets, lunch in a cafe, parking, fuel, souvenirs. It will seem like quite a small amount. If you spend 1000 euros with your family for a weekend in Poland. That includes amusement parks, accommodation, fuel, shopping, food and pay by card. That way you will pay 25 euros to the bank for currency conversion.

Mobile banking myTU applies the current international exchange rate for payments and does not add any additional fixed or percentage fees for currency conversion. This means that having a myTU card can save you quite a lot of money while you’re having fun in Poland.

Things to Know

If, however, you will pay for entertainment on the spot or buy tickets and pay by card, make sure to pay in local currency. It is very important. When paying by card, the bank card reader will ask you to choose a currency (zlotys or euros). Choose zlotys and you will avoid the additional merchant fee. This fee can sometimes be very high.

We recommend that you buy tickets to the theme parks in advance and for another practical reason, so that you can leave your wallet and bank cards at the hotel. This is extremely important, because you cannot take handbags and backpacks to the attractions, you must leave them at the attraction. This way you can avoid theft. Have small change for expenses in the park or the myTU payment card, which will once again help you save.

Regular banks apply a certain percentage (±2%) for withdrawing money from ATMs in Poland. With mobile banking myTU card you will be able to withdraw up to 200 euros per month for free (the current international exchange rate will be applied without any additional conversion fees). Be careful, there are often private ATMs in tourist areas that charge an extra fee.
