A Trip to the Alps with a Child

Get to know Triple AZ Trip. This is a family – Aistė, Aurimas and Ąžuolas, who have been traveling the wide world with their child for the second year. They are currently sharing with us their impressions from their December-long stay in the French Alps, in the Savoie region near Chamonix. “Amazing places, views, it’s definitely worth visiting at least once in your life. We left with the feeling that we will definitely come back”, says Aistė.

A trip to the Alps with a child – in this article we share with you the impressions, recommendations and tips of this traveling family trip to the Alps.

The most beautiful resorts in the Alps

During a trip to the Alps with a child, Triple AZ Trip singles out the towns that left the biggest impression:

  • Chamonix
  • Saint-Gervais-Les-Bains
  • in Megeve

He also adds that Italy and Switzerland are very close, so you can visit the Christmas market in Geneva in just an hour’s drive.

Everyone will find something to do in Chamonix. There are climbers and skiers, and there are plenty of hills for even the smallest ones. There, adults remember their childhood on sleds or plastic bags.

“One gets the impression that even the biggest pessimists could be turned into ski fans by the mountain views and hype pretty quickly.” Such are the words of Triple AZ Trip. Therefore, a trip to the Alps with a child is perfect not only for skiing lovers.

From Chamonix you can take the cable car to the top of the Aiguile du Midi at 3842 m. In the building, at the top, you can test your fear of heights on the glass balcony. It is only necessary to add that they lift children from 3 years of age. Although the recommendation is not to lift the child until the child is 5 years of age or older.

Meanwhile, to Brevent peak of 2525 m. you can even go up with a 2-year-old child. There, you will be greeted by a literally breathtaking view of Mont-Blanc. You will see “the Roof of Europe” at 4810 m. You can enjoy the view calmly in the Le Panoramic restaurant or just sitting in the snow. Whatever you prefer, really.

Mer de glace glacier

The family also shares their impressions from the expedition on the red train to the glacier. They say: “we went to the Mer de glace (Sea of Ice) from the town of Chamonix for just 20 minutes. We were already up to a height of 1913 m. Then, we took the lift down, 540 steps down again and we were in the glacier cave. The feeling here is indescribable. It is hard to realize that this is a glacier and not some artificial ice sculptures. If you will be in these parts, make sure to visit – it is a very interesting experience”.

Ski slopes for families

Triple AZ Trip shares their opinion on the most family-friendly ski slopes:

  • Les Houches
  • Les Planards

“Unfortunately, December was not generous with snow, so there was not as much skiing as we expected. We are glad that we took the opportunity to ski on the slopes of Les Houches”, says Aistė.

A trip to the Swiss Alps with a child

The family went to Switzerland to meet the new ones. From the town of Kandersteg, we took the cable car up the mountain and walked for about 25 minutes to the Oeschinesee lake. The images are magical! True, he adds, if you’re traveling with little ones, it’s best to do it with baby carriers or sleds if there’s enough snow. Therefore, if you prepare well, a trip to the Alps with a child will be real fun for both you and the child.

During the trip to the Alps with the child, the family also visited the town of Lauterbrunnen, which is famous for its 300m. high Staubbach waterfall.

“Europe has fantastic Alps with countless impressive places, you want to visit again and again! – say Aistė and Aurimas confidently at the end of the conversation.
