Why did we choose Semarah Lielupe SPA & Conferences Hotel?

Resting in a hotel in Jūrmala by the sea was a great choice for a short family outing. We didn’t just like Jurmala, we really liked the Semarah Lielupe SPA & Conferences hotel too.

Those of you who have been following us for a long time know that we really like to stay and try good spa hotels. We had heard a lot of good reviews about this hotel, so without hesitation we chose it for our vacation in Jurmala.

Unlike the family favourite in Ventspils, there are quite a few good hotels in Jurmala, not only accommodation in the private sector. When on vacation, we like to stay in spa hotels that have pools, breakfast, playrooms for the kids, and lots of different services. That’s what the hotel Semarah Lielupe SPA & Conferences is. Read on to find out why we love this hotel so much and why we think it’s perfect for a vacation with kids!

Hotel Semarah Lielupe SPA & Conferences

We especially liked Jurmala. Do you know why? And because here, unlike Lithuanian resorts, there are quite a few hotels and cafes right by the sea or on the beach. That’s what a hotel Semarah Lielupe Hotel is. It’s barely a few hundred meters from the sea and the beach can be reached in just a few minutes. Really comfortable with children. We had a wonderful panorama through the windows and a perfect view of the pine forests and the sea.

It is very convenient that the hotel has a secured parking lot, so you don’t have to worry about where to park your car.

We chose the Family Club type room. If you are traveling with children, we highly recommend it. Two separate rooms, so you can still read a book or watch a movie in peace when the children are asleep. The children’s room is decorated with children’s wallpaper, a mini clothes hanger, a table, a chair. There is a bunk bed, from which an additional bed can be pulled out, so three children can sleep. It is very practical when traveling with children, because if the children go to bed early like our Matthew, it is not very comfortable in one room. In addition, children really have additional good emotions after staying in such a fun room.

It’s also great that little things like dressing the kids in their size have been thought of.

Advantages of vacationing with children

Rest in a hotel in Jūrmala by the sea in the hotel Semarah Lielupe SPA & Conferences will definitely be remembered for a long time by the whole family. Because the hotel is perfectly suited for recreation with children. The hotel has an excellent kids club and extra large games room. It is paid – but definitely worth a visit. You can come here to play with your children yourself or you can leave them with care. The room is suitable for children from the smallest, even babies like our Paulė to the biggest. There is a trampoline, a ball pool, a climbing frame, and interactive games. By the way, one interactive game table was very interesting even for me!

A seasonal outside pool is also located here. It was a real salvation for us – because when we were in Jūrmala, there was no wind and no waves – there was a lot of grass floating in the sea, so swimming was not possible. Besides, I personally always find it very cold to swim in the Baltic Sea, while the pool water is warm. There are also sunbeds by the pool and a bar. By the way, the outdoor pool can be used from 8 am to 10 pm. So you can have a great bath before going to bed.

It also has a great indoor pool. Several saunas, a children’s pool and a jacuzzi. It’s great that it’s open as long as the outdoor pool. We had a swim in the pool before breakfast, as the indoor pool is also open from 8am. We really liked that the water in the pools was warm, as was the spa area itself.

With children, this is a real plus.

Delicious breakfast and food at the hotel

When we travel with children, it is always a big advantage that the hotel provides breakfast and we don’t have to worry about where to get porridge or scrambled eggs for the children.

During the stay at the Semarah Lielupe SPA & Conferences hotel, breakfast is always included in the price of accommodation. The breakfast is really great – from salads and snacks to the tastiest porridge for children.

We were particularly impressed, which we have not seen anywhere else while traveling in Latvia, that there is a separate area in the restaurant for families with children. Tables for parents near the children’s play area so that parents can finish breakfast in peace while the children play. There are also small Ikea-type children’s tables and chairs nearby. A small thing, but well thought out.

We didn’t have lunch or dinner at the hotel, but we heard great things from other families.

Rest in a hotel in Jurmala by the sea – what to do and see while resting in Jurmala

We really liked the fact that, unlike the coast of Lithuania, there is no big noise. Cafes do not play loud music. There are no trampolines, large toy markets, various vendors offering photos with parrots or other animals, or other temptations. In one word, we could describe that there are no “triggers” and “irritants” for smaller children’s attention. Which not only unbalance the children, but also affect the parents’ wallets. And often not receiving them ends in tears.

Also visit the main pedestrian street of the city, Jomas. Jūrmala is a very nicely organized city, so just take a walk in nature, ride a bike.

What we visited and what we liked

Amber Forest Park

A wonderful place with children. The park has playgrounds for children of all ages, paths for skaters and pedestrians, a skateboard park, street basketball courts, cafes.

There is also an observation tower.

Livu water park

The water park is not new, not as big as Suntago in Poland, in our opinion already in need of repair. By the way, the tickets are expensive (it was the first time we encountered that you have to pay for a baby as well), but if you are a fan of water sports, it’s worth a visit.

Beaches

Today, there are 11 well-equipped swimming pools on Jūrmala beach, five of which (Jaunkemeriai, Dzintarai, Buldurai, Majorai, Dubultai) received the Blue Flag eco-certificate. It’s great that there are cafes and toilets on the beaches.
