Shopping and Stores in Tenerife

The Canary Islands are one of those territories that are part of the EU but outside Europe, known as “outermost regions.” These territories are not subject to EU customs and VAT regulations. As a result, you don’t pay VAT when you shop in Tenerife, which means you can shop much cheaper.

Shopping and shops in Tenerife: there is no VAT in the Canary Islands, but there is a local consumer tax known as IGIC (Impuesto General Indirecto de Canarias – Canary General Indirect Tax), which is levied at a number of different rates, and which is in any case lower than our VAT and is usually 7%.

Sales in Tenerife

Tenerife has the following sales:

– The winter sales start just after the New Year, or rather after the Three Kings’ Day, and run until around mid-February.

– Summer sales run from around 1 July to mid-August.

– Mid-season sales: Small (up to 20%) sales can be found in March-June and September-November.

– BLACK FRIDAY sales – in Tenerife, these offers are already available from the second week of November and are a great way to buy gifts for Christmas.

– Christmas sales are more of a festive shopping spree than a sale – we still recommend waiting for the Winter Sales.

Our recommendations

Shopping and shops in Tenerife: We are by no means listing all the shops, outlets, markets and similar places to shop on the island. We only list some of the ones that we think are worth a visit, where you will find specific products or brands. Our aim is to provide you with information on as many shops and places as possible, so that you always know where to find what you need when you need it.

Shops and Outlets in Tenerife

United colours of Benetton

Although it is an Italian company, there are many outlets in Tenerife. You can buy woollen sweaters for €4 and jackets for €15. Prices with real discounts. Often it is stated that the item may have a minimal defect (somewhere stained or torn), so take a look. Often these defects are not even noticeable. There are a number of these outlets all over the island, but the most convenient ones to visit are those in the tourist area.

Lefties

This budget clothing chain is part of the Inditex group, which also includes Zara, Mango, Massimo Dutti and other popular stores. In Europe, this chain can only be found in Spain, Portugal, Andorra or Israel. So make sure you visit Tenerife on holiday! The goods are really inexpensive and fashionable. The quality – at least for children’s clothes – is really excellent and the price is very friendly. Be sure to take a look. And there are some great women’s clothes for the holidays too. I would particularly recommend the women’s sportswear line.

The well-known and popular chain also has a store in Tenerife’s capital, in the Meridiano shopping centre. It also has a children’s collection, a women’s collection, a men’s collection and a Home collection. Shop with confidence for both holidays and home.

Mango outlet

If you have the time, you can find some real gems in Mango Outlet, and the discounts are really worth it. We’ve bought leather loafers for €12 and a great wool coat for €25. And the prices of dresses and blouses are really worth it. There is also a small children’s and men’s section.
