To Mexico with children. The Aistė family, who have been traveling around the world with their children since the youngest days, when the little one was only 8 weeks old, decided to travel to Mexico from Great Britain after canceling the planned trip to Thailand several times. Maybe the change of plans brought even more experiences than expected, let’s walk around Mexico together.

As Gael Garcia Bernal famously said, you won’t find anything other than authentic Mexico because it’s so diverse and different. Even if you only travel 50 kilometers, the changes and variety of food will surprise and delight you.

Mexico is a land of endless beaches: Playa del Carmen, Isla Holbox, Isla Blanca, Cancun, Tulum, Puerto Morelos and others. You’ll find majestic colonial architecture and history in sultry streets, vibrant colors and local people everywhere.

Searching for Peace? Not in Cacun

As Aistė shares, when traveling with family and small children, look for peace outside of Cancun. Cancun is a city of young and energetic rich people that can offer entertainment, nightlife and movement. In addition, both Cancun and Isla Blanca are very windy and swimming in the sea is impossible due to extremely large waves.

Want the perfect beach? Travel to Isla Holbox. Travelers call this place a paradise and a wonderful oasis, a divinely beautiful island. Yes, this island does not have many inhabitants, you won’t even find big cars here – everyone drives around with golf carts, which gave Aistė’s family very good emotions and it was very fun to ride them.

Hotel or apartment – this is the question

Aistė mentions that most places in Mexico are really safe when traveling with children. Walk on the main streets, in public places, do not wander into dark alleys or cul-de-sacs – these rules apply not only in Mexico, but all over the world.

If you choose a hotel with a full package, Aistė warns that you should not expect the same level as in European resorts. You may not like the food or the environment here, so the best option when traveling with your family is an apartment. Aistė shares that it saved their time in Mexico, because they could choose what they wanted to eat, they bought baskets full of wonderful fruits and vegetables. When you stay in the apartments, you will be able to cook and wash your clothes yourself, so you won’t need to pack so much for your trip. So the conclusion is one – there will be more space in the suitcase for waiting, the most important thing for the trip is the passport.

From architecture to hippie beaches, taste and see

Playa de Carmen – Here you will find the most famous food and gourmet experiences that will be talked about for a long time: trails, seafood dishes and bars – a true hippie vacation paradise.

Cozumel is home to amazing coral reefs, so if you like diving, the underwater world is waiting for you. By the way, this place attracts a lot of tourists, so you will see a lot of cruise ships here.

Guanajuato – A UNESCO World Heritage city, with its beautiful houses, their different colors and impressive streets and tunnels – will turn heads and not let you go.

Merida, the capital of Yucatan, radiant with white sacred beauty, will win your hearts with its white palaces, majestic buildings and spaces. And the Sunday gastronomic markets will invite you to taste, buy and take at least a bit of the taste home.

Puebla – suitable for those who appreciate architecture, walks. There are 365 churches in this city. It can be said that every day a new church all year round.

How to travel this year?

In Mexico, you will be greeted by warm weather, of course there are also rainy periods. Prices are higher than before the quarantine, and locals often complain about that.

When asked why it is worth traveling with children, Aistė answers that traveling with children is the most colorful and an opportunity to show how wonderful our world is. Travel – and bring indelible impressions with you. After all, dreams come true only during travels and you can meet your beloved star at the airport, as it happened to the family of Aistė – they met and dared to say hello to Dylan Obrien at the Cancun airport.
