Cities with the best playgrounds
Palanga
In Palanga, surrounded by pine forests, next to the cycle path and close to the sea, an oasis of joy for the little ones and one of the most spectacular playgrounds in Lithuania. It’s a Children’s Park, and most importantly, it’s free.
Located at the intersection of Naglis Avenue and Sermuksniu Street, the play park offers free entertainment for the little ones – colourful sea-themed play equipment up to 7 metres high, a variety of merry-go-rounds, swings and carousels for children of all ages.
The whole area is fenced off, with surveillance cameras and lighting to keep little ones safe. All the equipment is made of laminated wood and plastic, and the playgrounds are filled with seaside sand. There is a café nearby and plenty of benches. Perfect place with children.
Birzai
It was not so long ago – just under a year or so – that in Birzai, near the Evangelical Reformed Church, a beautiful playground for children was built. In addition to the usual playground houses, stairs and slides, it is equipped with the YALP MEMO interactive multifunctional intelligent play equipment. One of the games is a catch. Each participant chooses their own colour and has to touch it when the columns of the device are coloured, the time to catch their colour is getting shorter and shorter, which makes it more and more difficult. Children will also learn maths and language, develop memory and social skills through this game device. Many of the games are group games, so we recommend that you visit with a group of friends.
When visiting Birzai, you will also find our Birzai guide very useful, with ideas for things to do, places to eat and places to stay with children.
Visaginas
In Visaginas, we recommend visiting the Play Town with your children. There are large and colourful climbing frames, climbing frames and slides in the open air on the sand. There is also an extreme sports area for young people – skateboards, scooters and roller sports.
Alytus
A new playground was built a few years ago in the Alytus Youth Park. And is a must-visit if you’re coming to Alytus with children. This playground is quite large with a wide variety of activities and facilities suitable for both younger and older children and their parents. There are various swings, a volleyball court, a roller-skating area, and the pumptrack, which our son Motiejus loves so much, one of which is the biggest in Lithuania. There are also many stairs, an 8 metre high activity tower, educational boards, trampolines, balance platforms, carousels. Little ones can play in the playhouses and the lower activity tower.
In the centre of the playground, you will find the SONA musical arch. It’s an interactive dance and play arch from the same manufacturer as YALP MEMO. Choose one of the 5 games and you will hear instructions in Lithuanian. Adults, parents and grandparents can join in the games.
Nemencine
One of our son’s favourite playground near Vilnius, where we often come to ride his scooter on a huge asphalt pumptrack for bikes, skateboards, scooters and rollerblades. This leisure space also has a soft play area with lots of swings, steps and slides for young and old. There is also a basketball court, volleyball court and mini football pitch.
Klaipeda
Klaipeda Recreation Park is a large leisure space where city residents and tourists gather. Here you will find 18 active leisure areas. There are football, basketball, tennis, mini-golf and volleyball courts. The playground itself is spacious and suitable for children of all ages. It features swings and stairs and slides, as well as balancing platforms. It is also our favourite space for scooterists, skateboarders and other extreme sports enthusiasts. High up in the trees, you will find the amusement park’s climbing tracks.
Klaipeda has many places and museums to enjoy with children, all of which can be found in our article Klaipeda with children.
Vilnius
Vilnius Perkunas Square, Located in the middle of a residential area, is divided into 7 zones. There are many sports and leisure areas, chess tables, hammocks, a picnic area with barbecues. In addition to these, there is a cool outdoor playground for children from 1 year old.
