ARTlandya Puppet Museum in Tenerife, which is not only the largest museum of authentic dolls in Europe, but also an impressive place that Greta and Oskaras visited and highly recommend to you, will appeal to both adults and children.
The ARTlandya Puppet Museum in Tenerife
The museum is definitely not a museum of antique dolls – it is a museum of handmade toys and dolls, where you will find one-of-a-kind works by artists from all over the world. The museum is famous for its huge collection of dolls from all over the world, where every doll and toy is a real work of art. The dolls are carefully crafted by artists who have dedicated their lives to the mastery of this craft. Visitors will see dolls representing different nations, ethnic groups and their cultures.
The museum exhibits 400 handmade dolls. Each doll is unique, the materials used for their production are different, and the attention to detail devoted to their production is exceptional – they are like small petrified people, with various emotions, smiles, shining eyes. Dolls from tiny babies to Indians, old people, elves and other fairy tale heroes. Sometimes it even became uncomfortable – as if we were not alone…
The whole museum is just a farmhouse with even several houses full of dolls, and in one of them you will find an impressive display of teddy bears.
There were no other visitors in the museum that day, the friendly Austrian owner let us walk around on our own, and later invited us to an educational lesson – the process of making porcelain dolls. They told us in detail how such dolls are born, how they thought of establishing such a museum, how they searched for specimens of the collection.
