Children’s Paradise – Deer SPA

Many children probably adore animals. Our children are no exception. Although we have visited many different animal parks throughout Lithuania, we return with the greatest pleasure to one place – the Elniai SPA.

Children’s paradise – Deer SPA. So how does that deer therapy go?

An Oasis of Peace Near Kernavė

The Elnių SPA can be found not far from Kernavė surrounded by forests. It’s not difficult to find, just follow the directions. According to legend, nomads were once lured to this area by herds of reindeer grazing here. Following them, the hunters established a campsite, which later became the town of Kernavė. According to the founders of “Elnių SPA”, Remigijus Garška and Rima Janužytė, it was this fact that obliged them to raise deer, not cows, on these lands.

Why Elnių SPA?

For many of us, spas mean swimming pools, saunas, and massages. However, it has been known since ancient times that animals have a positive effect on human physical and mental conditions. In the history of various civilizations and later religions, dogs and cats have been regarded as human healers. Today, such informal treatment is called animal therapy, which, according to scientists, really has a positive effect on our health. In addition to dolphins, horses, cats or dogs, other animals can also be included in the healing therapy process. And while staying here, you can feel like you are in “deer therapy”, although there is no such official term.

How “Deer Therapy” Works

Deer spa owners offer two ways – at a distance or to participate in their feeding together. In the first case, it is a slow process, meditation (the time is not limited, although the whole day). You can do this sitting quietly on the meadow, in the complete peace of nature. This is where the environment breathes peace. The second way is to participate in deer feeding. Children like this part the most. After all, this is a children’s paradise – Elniu SPA.

Deer Feeding

Deer are timid by nature, some of them hide in the forest. However, the other part is always at the fence – because they already know that guests feed them when they arrive. Deer like almost all vegetables and fruits, for example, after Halloween, the animals were very happy with pumpkins brought by people. “They don’t eat citrus fruits, but they even surprised us by tasting pineapples, melons and bananas,” says R. Janužytė, the founder of the deer farm. We made sure of it ourselves after feeding the deer with bananas.

Be sure to bring fruits and vegetables with you – you will definitely make the deer happy.

The Prices for Deer Feeding

The prices of the visit can be found below:

  • You can admire the deer through the fence (3 EUR for children and adults)
