Tenerife’s Beaches That Are Suitable for Children

“Travel 4 kids®” shares with you useful tips and information about places to visit with children in the Canary Islands. If you are traveling in Tenerife – you can find attractions in the “Travel 4 kids®” Tenerife attractions map.

Tenerife’s Beaches That Are Suitable for Children – Jolita, one of the founders of “Travel 4 kids®”, has prepared an information guide about beaches in Tenerife for you. And what we like most is that the beaches here are volcanic, unusually black sand for us.

TOP4 beaches in the northern part of Tenerife

Benijo and Almaciga Beaches

Wild black sand beaches located in the village of Benijo, on the north coast of Tenerife, in the district of Anaga. If you see a big swell, be very careful. Until Benijo Beach you have to climb steps, however Almaciga Beach is very easily accessible by parking on the side of the road.

There are many fish restaurants near these beaches, so when you visit them, don’t miss the opportunity to eat paella or fresh seafood and fish.

You can find the coordinates of Almaciga Beach on the “Travel 4kids®” Tenerife attractions map. Coordinates of Benijo Beach.

El Socorro Beach

Blue flag beach. It has all the necessary services, such as showers, observation points, lifeguards and toilets, restaurants and beach bars. We recommend to be careful with the ocean and observe the color of the flag flying on the beach and listen to the recommendations of the lifeguards. The beach is about 230 meters long and has plenty of parking spaces. Groups of people with surfing lessons can also often be seen at this beach.

You will find the exact coordinates of this place in the “Travel 4 kids®” Tenerife attractions map.

Las Terasitas Beach

The golden beach stretches for almost 1.5 kilometers, palm trees, calm ocean. It is said to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the north of Tenerife – we obviously disagree, but locals and tourists alike love it for its white (man-made and imported) sand beach. This beach, located below the mountains of Anaga, near the capital Santa Cruz, in the village of San Andres. Facilities – deckchairs, sun umbrellas, showers, various bars and restaurants.

TOP4 beaches in the southern part of the island

La Tejita Beach

One of the most impressive and beautiful red sand beaches on the island. It is one of the largest beaches in Tenerife, with a coastline of about 1,000 meters. The beach has an area with sunbeds and umbrellas. The beach offers spectacular views of the Montana Roja volcano, which you can climb by a trail if you wish. The beach is usually guarded, but it is always advised to pay attention to the color of the raised flag and to proceed with caution. If you see big waves, be careful. We also note that the beach is located in one of the windiest areas of the island of Tenerife.

El Medano Beach

One of the best known beaches on the island of Tenerife, located in the very town of El Medano, in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona, very close to the southern airport. The beach has showers, sunbeds and umbrellas. This is one of Tenerife’s beaches awarded with the blue flag. You can feel the local atmosphere on the beach – there are also restaurants, cafes, and a weekend market. You can walk along the coast to Leocadio Machado beach – there you will find lovers of water sports (windsurfing, kitesurfing).

El Duque Beach

The beach is located in the municipality of Adeje, in the south of the island of Tenerife. El Duque beach has been awarded the blue flag and therefore has all the necessary services such as sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, observation posts, lifeguards, toilets, local restaurants, and a tourist information center. This beach is part of a group of 12 beaches in Tenerife that are wheelchair-accessible, with ramps and paths for babies too. El Duque beach does not have many waves as it is protected by a breakwater, so swimming is quite safe under normal conditions. The downside is that it is always quite crowded.

Abama Beach

A golden sand beach hidden within the grounds of a luxury hotel. To get to the beach, you have to cross the private grounds of the Ritz Carlton Hotel and go down the hill. The hotel has an elevator, but non-hotel residents are not always able to use it. The beach is very well maintained, there is a restaurant (admittedly quite expensive), toilets, and a lifeguard at the bottom. The beach is public, like all beaches in Spain. You can safely enjoy the sun and water activities. By the way, we also managed to meet poisonous blue jellyfish on this beach, but the lifeguards react very quickly and when the guests arrived, they immediately told everyone to leave the water. The only downside to this beach is that cars have to be parked at the top, so one family member will have to walk to get everyone down.
