Inhaler for Children

As autumn approaches, we begin to pull out of the closet not only warmer jackets for children, but also faithful helpers of the cold season. These things include inhalers. And if you’re still not sure if you need an inhaler at all or, like us, you’re tired of a big inhaler with wires – we’ve got a handful of good tips and one innovative solution for you!

Mothers know that the best medicines for children are natural remedies, herbs, salves, oils. In general, anything that comes from nature and has a positive strengthening effect. Therefore, when you have a cold, one of the most effective procedures is inhalation. Inhalation of hot steam saturated with healing substances. Perhaps in your childhood you sat over a bowl of herbs with a towel wrapped around your head, inhaling the hot fragrant steam. And nowadays, in our opinion, an inhaler for children is one of the most important tools in the home medicine cabinet.

Nowadays, the inhalation process has become simpler and even more effective. Today, we remember this method of treatment. It has been popular since ancient times and its health benefits.

Benefits of Inhalations

An inhaler for children is an irreplaceable helper for mothers who take care of their children’s health. The benefits of inhalations are obvious:

  • Substances enter the respiratory tract much faster and act locally. Since the medication does not enter the bloodstream, it is often possible to avoid the side effects that can be caused by oral or intravenous medications.
  • Inhalations not only treat inflammations, but also soothe the irritated mucous membrane of the respiratory tract, help to remove mucus, facilitate expectoration, and unclog the nose.
  • Helps treat respiratory diseases such as: laryngitis, bronchitis, asthma, pneumonia, etc.
  • An effective and simple way to treat a runny nose.
  • It is an excellent preventive measure that helps stop the development of the disease. It improves the condition of the mucous membrane and strengthens its resistance.

Inhaler for children. Why use them?

Inhalers are integral devices for managing diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tract. They help to quickly and efficiently take prescribed drugs in the home environment. The device can be used by both children and adults.

  • A pot or a teapot with hot water is, after all, a survival thing that our grandparents used. In addition, hot water in a container is dangerous due to the risk of burns. In addition, hot steam not only enters the nose or throat, but also irritates the eyes. Modern compressor inhalers are incomparably safer.
  • Inhalers are usually accompanied by special nozzles for children (they are smaller than adults). Some are applied to the face as masks, others are swallowed.
  • They can be used by children of any age as long as they are able to remain calm during the procedure. Sometimes inhalers are used even in podiatry departments, so age is not the most important criterion here.
  • Inhalations are designed in such a way that the medicine reaches the problem areas of the respiratory tract and thus reduces irritation, which usually causes not only coughing, but also difficulty breathing.
  • When using medicines prescribed by a doctor, cold inhalations are recommended, since medicines usually break down when exposed to a warm environment. That lessens their effect. The number of necessary inhalations also differs depending on the medicine. At the same time, thanks to the inhaler, a limit is set on how much they can be consumed per day.

When should you perform inhalations?

Basically, inhalations are mostly used in the cold season, when all respiratory diseases intensify. These procedures help wonderfully with dry coughs and runny noses. They moisten the airways and facilitate expectoration. Even when you go to the doctor with a runny nose or cough, especially with the smallest ones, you will hear that it is best to start with home inhalations. These are usually the simplest remedy – salty mineral water, e.g. Vytautas. We use this procedure on all our children and can assure you that it is completely SAFE and HARMLESS.

Doctors also prescribe inhalations to treat acute or chronic bronchitis, acute laryngitis (inflammation of the mucous membrane of the larynx), rhinitis (inflammation of the nasal mucosa), pneumonia, bronchial asthma and cystic fibrosis, which affects the activity of all mucus-producing glands.

Depending on the complexity and nature of the disease, inhalations can be performed in medical institutions or at home. A number of different remedies can be used for them – starting with saline solution, mineral water or medicines prescribed by a doctor, if necessary.

In any case, you should always consult the attending physician regarding inhalations – he will assess the child’s condition, give advice and, if necessary, prescribe additional measures.

Our experience and “friendship” with inhalers

Jolita’s children from “Traveling with Children” are precaucious – they came to this world earlier than other children. These children are born with underdeveloped lungs, so they very often develop lung-related diseases (repeated bronchitis, such children suffer from asthma more often, and they are less resistant to various cold viruses).

We bought the inhaler almost the first year when the cold and disease season came. The doctor also used inhalations after visiting her. This was one of the main means of treatment for our elder Greta, whose asthma attacks in the cold season were repeated almost every month. Greta remembers the inhalation perfectly and had already learned to ask for it herself when it became difficult to breathe or she had coughing fits. Inhalation was our daily routine in the cold season, and to make it easier to breathe in heated rooms, we also moistened the mucous membrane before going to bed at night.

To this day, even after the children have grown up and the winters are spent warm in the Canary Islands, the inhaler is still in our medicine cabinet. It is true that it is used less often, but it helps perfectly when the first symptoms of cold viruses appear, when a stronger runny nose starts (it moisturizes the mucous membrane very well and the “inhaler+nasal washing” procedure often helps to prevent the disease from progressing and complications) or even when the throat hurts badly – hydration often significantly improves the situation.

Our first inhaler was really not very small, it was connected to a rosette, it worked loudly. As people who travel a lot with children, it is very important for us that it is rechargeable, takes up little space, and works quietly. So which inhaler to choose and what do we recommend?

Inhaler for children FeellifeAir Kids is a portable type mesh inhaler – it is a medical device.

This certified membrane inhaler uses advanced liquid and liquid medication separation and nebulization technology – the liquid is passed through a vibrating membrane that breaks the liquid into particles that can be inhaled.

Thanks to this innovative technology, ultra-fine particles (from 1 to 5 microns in size) of high penetration, characterized by high activity and high adhesion properties, are formed in the inhaler. They can quickly penetrate the mucous membrane, thus achieving the maximum effectiveness of nebulized drugs.

The manufacturer of this inhaler – Feellife Health – is well known all over the world. You may have even heard of them already, as they have been producing other popular portable inhaler models in Lithuania for many years, such as EVOLU and Air Angel.
