Free entertainment for children in Vilnius

Many people think that in order to have fun, you need to have a lot of money. However, this is definitely not true. “Travelling with Children ®” recommends really fun activities for children in Vilnius. These activities are also free.

Do you have a question what to do with children in Vilnius? Read on!

Aircraft Tracking and Children’s Playground Near Vilnius Airport

Many people probably already know about the plane spotting area. It is a really fun and interesting place for both the youngest and older children. And for many adults, it’s really fun.

But did you know that there is also a very fun playground next to this playground. So this place, very close to the city center and really fun. We guarantee that you will have a great time with the whole family.

When to go? The fun part is that there are a lot of planes taking off or landing. For that reason, we recommend going to the website of the Vilnius airport. It shows real-time passenger plane flights. And we also recommend the Flightradar website. It displays information not only about passenger but also cargo or technical flights.

And for children, especially smaller ones, there is definitely plenty of entertainment. And modern playgrounds and fountains, where you can definitely take a dip on a summer day.

Smaller children can spend their time at the two playgrounds for smaller children.

It’s great that there are outdoor toilets on site, and there’s also a supermarket nearby where you can find cafes.

Open Gallery

Open Gallery “Open Gallery” is a project of the art factory “Loftas”. It is located in Naujamiestis, very close to our house, so we often go there for a walk.

The goals of “Open Gallery” are to revive the formerly abandoned city territories to a new life and thus to reveal the never-before-seen face of the capital of Lithuania to the citizens of Vilnius and the guests of the city.

It would seem strange, but even our three-year-old is always interested to be here. And older children who are inclined towards arts will really like it, too!

Visiting the gallery is free, the gallery is open to everyone at any time.

Tour of the Old Town for Children

You will probably agree that children are not very fond of historical and cultural objects. So, if you want to introduce your children to Vilnius, this excursion is just for you.

This very interesting route-game will not leave you indifferent. It is most suitable for families with children aged 7-10. Following the route, you will help the children to pay attention to 15 small but extremely interesting highlights of the city – they will see various sculptures of puppies, teddy bears, mermaids, measure their “height” with the great flood of Neris, pat the cat’s nose, and so on.

You can find the map in Tourism Information Centers or simply download it from the official website.

Installation “Portal”

This unique idea was born by the author Benediktas Gylys, who, together with the VILNIUS TECH “LinkMenų fabrikas” team, engineers, designers and other developers, created a new way to teleport to the reality of another city in real time and get to know it more closely. Sounds very interesting, right? Imagine how interesting will it be for your children!
