Summer is a wonderful time to celebrate the most beautiful personal holidays. Especially those whose date we can choose ourselves (weddings, christenings). Agne, one of the founders of ” Travel 4 kids”, wants to share with you a wonderful place she found in Vilnius for her daughter Paule’s christenings and for a small family reunion. Christenings of children in Vilnius, where to celebrate it? – We finally have the answer to this question.

What we were looking for our christenings celebration

Christenings of children in Vilnius – that’s how we started our Google search. However, out of the many offers, unfortunately there were very few that matched our desires. For Paule’s chistenings and the place where we plan to celebrate this beautiful and cosy occasion, we had several criteria. As summer is a wonderful time of year, we were looking for a place that had a terrace so that we could be outside. But also the terrace that could be covered, as the weather in Lithuania is sometimes difficult to predict. Of course, the beautiful view from the terrace is a big advantage for us. Because we still want to have the most beautiful photos of this once-in-a-lifetime celebration.

We also looked for a venue in Vilnius and the city centre, not in the countryside, so that we didn’t have to go anywhere and our non-driving guests didn’t have to worry about transport. However, it was still an advantage to have a parking lot, so that we wouldn’t have to worry about where to park.

As we were not planning a big party, we were looking for a small and private place to celebrate alone. The menu and the feast were also obviously not the last thing on our minds. We wanted tasty, delicate food, without the traditional mixed dishes and three tiers of sweet cakes.

And after a long search, we found the place. So mission accomplished.

“River Town” – a wonderful restaurant for a christenings celebration

Just the kind of place we were looking for for our celebration is the River Town restaurant in Vilnius. It seems that a christenings in Vilnius couldn’t be held in a better location.

The “River Town” restaurant is located in one of the most historic and beautiful places in Vilnius. It’s directly in front of Gediminas Castle. The first plus point is the beautiful location, right in the city centre. It has an outdoor terrace, which is covered in case the weather is unlucky. And most importantly, the restaurant has free parking right in the city centre.

The restaurant has been open for almost two years and the owners and chefs have been working together for 10 years. They have an excellent menu, wonderful desserts and impeccable service.

In addition, we read a lot of great comments and decided to visit and try it out.

First impression

And the first impression on arrival is just a wow view, very charismatic terrace. But most importantly, the owners and chefs Šarūnas and Darius met in person. They took the time and attention to chat, answered all the questions and gave not only great menu suggestions but also ideas for the celebration itself. It’s great when the owners themselves meet the customers, communicate and listen. It’s no wonder why the restaurant is doing so well, with so many people visiting the restaurant and leaving nothing but great feedback. After talking to the owners, I realised once again that when you love what you do, you do it well.

Food in the restaurant

The restaurant’s menu is seasonal because, according to Šarūnas and Darius, the fresh produce of the current season is the best way to bring out the flavour and character of the dishes. So if you’re celebrating christenings or other festivities in the summer, they’ll be sure to offer you summery and light dishes. The chefs are particularly proud to invite their guests to try the vitello tonnato, a traditional Italian appetizer of veal and tuna sauce. The USDA Prime aged beef entrecote, and the fresh tongue of the sea, which, together with Canadian scallops, wild beef chop, octopus with burnt pepper sauce (pancetta) and sweet Belgian chocolate fondant and morengine Pavlova, have already become restaurant hits.

Although there is no children’s menu in the restaurant, Šarūnas and Darius have certainly come up with some very tasty and original solutions for children. And the best part is that you won’t have to worry about the festive cake and desserts. They’ll take care of them on the spot. It’s great that after a long conversation and listening to what we wanted, they almost managed to come up with a perfectly delicious menu. Why almost? Because we are still considering some of the suggestions. They suggested so many wonderfull ideas that it is hard to choose.

By the way, even if you don’t plan to have lunch or celebrate a holiday, we highly recommend stopping by the terrace for homemade ice cream. While we were tweaking the menu with the chefs, Motiejus was tasting it. They tasted so wonderful that I think we’ll be back before the party just to enjoy them on the beautiful terrace.

Celebrations in the restaurant

“River Town” is not only a place to celebrate christenings, but also small weddings and other personal celebrations. The outdoor terrace can accommodate up to 20 people and the indoor terrace up to 40 people.

There is a lovely lawn next to the outdoor terrace where you can set up props for your photo shoot.

The restaurant also organises various tastings.

The terrace is very stylish and the inside of the restaurant is well equipped. In fact, inside I felt like I was in a good steakhouse in London or another European city.
