Practical tips

When choosing where to stay in Warsaw, first of all, you should consider whether you are arriving by car or by public transport (train, bus, or plane). Will you want to get around Warsaw by car, walk on foot, or maybe use the metro or trams?

If you plan to travel around Warsaw by public transport, be sure to pay attention to whether there is a tram line near the hotel that goes through the “pl. Bankowy” or “Stare Miasto” stops. From there, the main attractions can be easily reached on foot. Alternatively, the hotel or apartment should be near one of the two metro lines. Both of these lines intersect at the “Świętokrzyska” metro station, from which all attractions are easily accessible on foot.

By the way, did you know that Warsaw can be easily reached by train from Vilnius or Kaunas.

As always, be sure to read reviews on booking.com and other platforms. We usually book accommodation through booking.com. It is also possible to contact hotels directly and check what price they offer, but often booking.com is more flexible with cancellations or payments on-site.

If you are traveling with children and renting an apartment, we always recommend reading descriptions or reviews to check if there is a contactless check-in option. Sometimes companies renting apartments ask to pick up the keys from their offices, which have limited working hours. This is especially important if you are arriving late. We always look for “self check-in” to make things simpler and faster.

Which district to choose for accommodation in Warsaw?

Old Town (Stare Miasto)

Staying in the Old Town, you will reach many city attractions on foot. However, if you arrive by car, there may be difficulties finding a parking space. Although some hotels in the Old Town have their own free parking lots, most of them do not. Therefore, you will have to leave the car either in 24-hour paid parking lots or on the streets. Parking in the city is free on weekends, but it is difficult to find a spot in the Old Town.

So, when choosing a place to stay, carefully consider car parking. Also, keep in mind that it may not be possible to drive to all hotels and apartments, as in some areas of the Old Town, traffic is prohibited.

Where to stay in Warsaw’s Old Town? There are many boutique-style and luxury hotels in the Old Town. You will also find many unique, luxurious, and exclusive apartments.

What we recommend:

Bella Luna Luxury Suites – modern apartments costing around 100 euros per night with a view of the Old Town square. Of course, the price is significantly higher during the season and holidays. But the location and the apartment itself are excellent. However, unfortunately, it is only suitable for a family without children or a couple.

And if you are looking for a WOW option in Warsaw – check out Hotel Verte. For me, it is one of the most impressive hotels in all of Poland. The hotel is located very close to the Royal Castle and simply looks like part of it. It feels more like a palace than a hotel, with exceptional interior design and service. It is especially perfect if you are celebrating a special occasion with your family or loved one.

If you are traveling to Warsaw by car during the Christmas season, we recommend avoiding staying in the Old Town, as it is practically impossible to find a parking spot and the traffic jams are very heavy. However, be sure to visit Warsaw in Christmas or the Christmas markets in Warsaw – we highly recommend it, as the city is beautifully decorated and especially charming.

City Center (Śródmieście)

The city center is one of the best and most popular places to stay in Warsaw. It is convenient to stay in the city center if you are arriving by bus or train, as both the train and bus stations are located in the center. Staying in the city center is also ideal if you want to shop. There is a large shopping center, Zloty Terasy, in the center. Additionally, there are many stores on Marszalkowska Street (H&M, Zara, Uniqlo, Reserved, Tkmaxx, Half Price). Bracka Street also features luxury shops such as Louis Vuitton, YSL, and Bottega Veneta. Best hotels in the city center

In the very center of Warsaw, there is the symbol of Warsaw, the Palace of Culture and Science. What are the best hotels in the city center of Warsaw? Where is the best accommodation near the Palace of Culture? In the city center and near the Palace of Culture, there are many international chain hotels like NovotelMercure.

There is also the Intercontinental Hotel here. We highly recommend staying there. Its 43rd-floor swimming pool is the highest pool in Poland. If your accommodation budget in Poland is high, we strongly recommend staying at this hotel and visiting their impressive spa. The view from it overlooks the Palace of Culture and Science.

Praga district

This is a very bohemian and increasingly popular area. There are many lofts, hostels, and Mlecny bars (milk bars where you can eat cheaply). It is also convenient for those arriving by car, as it is on the way into Warsaw. Additionally, there are several streets in this area where parking is free.

It is also very convenient to stay here if you are coming to Warsaw for a concert, as the Warsaw stadium is located here.

If you are looking for affordable accommodation in Warsaw – we have a recommendation for you: JM Millennium Kawęczyńska 37. Inexpensive, simple, but very cozy apartments with a bedroom and living room, as well as a fully equipped kitchen. By the way, we like it here because street parking is free, and the apartment has a good coffee machine with beans. The apartment can accommodate 4 people. When booked in advance, the price for the apartment is only 50 euros per night. Self-check-in.

Wola district

This district is located close to the center, with many new apartment complexes and modern hotels. It is near the center.

We really liked and stayed at Kasprzaka 29A Business Apartments N2. Modern apartments in a new skyscraper and residential complex. It has its own underground parking. There is a bedroom, living room, and separate kitchen. Very convenient transport connection to the city center. The apartment complex has Biedronka, many small shops, cafes, and bars. Self-check-in.

We have also stayed at KaZou Residence apartments. Modern, contemporary, very close to a large shopping center Arkadia, just 500 meters away. However, parking costs extra. Self-check-in.

Mokotów district

The Mokotów district is a bit further from the center, but it’s perfect if you’re arriving in Warsaw by car. Mokotów is also ideal for those coming to Warsaw and looking for accommodation before a flight from Warsaw Chopin Airport or after a flight. If you’re flying from Warsaw Modlin Airport, which is located outside of Warsaw, we recommend the modern, clean hotel Zajazd Magnolia-Airport Modlin.

We really liked the Noli Mokotów apartment hotel. It’s a completely new, modern building. There is a paid parking lot beneath it. Many shared co-working spaces, a computer game room, and a communal kitchen. The rooms are like small apartments, with a kitchenette, dishwasher, and shower. The price for two people is around 40 euros.

Since we have been traveling to Warsaw with the family for a long time, and my first trips with my parents were to Poland, I clearly remember two hotels, Portos and Aramis. They are located next to each other. They are in a great location, inexpensive, and renovated. If you are looking for affordable hotels, not apartments, be sure to check out these options: Portos (now part of the Best Western chain) and Aramis.

Nearby, there is also an inexpensive, simple, and modern hotel, o3Hotel. It offers a variety of room options and delicious breakfasts.

Hotel in the countryside Klub Sosnovy

For us, one of the best hotels in Warsaw is Klub Sosnovy. We couldn’t categorize this hotel into any specific district because it is located on the other side of the city. It’s about 15 km from the Old Town by car, but it’s really worth it. The hotel is located in a beautiful park, in a manor-like building. It’s like those countryside clubs seen in foreign movies. Elegant rooms, very delicious breakfast, and most importantly – an incredible pool. We highly recommend it if you are looking for a peaceful place to stay, especially with children. And the price is often very good if you book in advance.

Cheap hotels in Warsaw

If you ask where to stay cheaply in Warsaw or which are the inexpensive hotels, we highly recommend looking at our suggested apartments or staying in affordable chain hotels:

  1. Ibis
  2. B&B hotel chain
  3. o3Hotel

Note that during the holiday season and state holidays, hotels raise their prices. Therefore, before traveling, be sure to check when the Public Holidays in Poland 2025 will be.
