Submarine sailing in Gran Canaria – our friends Kristina and Andrius and their two kids tried our recommended submarine tour in Puerto de Mogan. We share family’s amazing impressions and photos.

Submarine Tour in Gran Canaria

Total lengh of this activity – abour 40 minutes of fun. The submarine tour takes about half an hour. The remaining 10 minutes are for the submergence and ascent of the ship. The boat reaches a depth of 22-25 metres.

At Puerto de Mogan there is a special underwater reserve for aquatic fauna. We saw two sunken ships, wrecks of columns, whale skeletons – all artificially created to restore and increase the population of local fish. As the fish cannot hide and slip here, there are few types of them. And around the wrecks of sunken ships, between the “bones” (which, look like columns, are artificial, lowered to the bottom for the purpose), there are tons of fish of all kinds.

Huge surprise awaits for kids (parents should not talk in advance) – when buying a child’s ticket, parents are asked for their child’s name and asked to write it down in capital letters before the swim. It seemed quite strange, but only after the swim we understood – when we got off the submarine, each kid received a personal certificate with the date that they had successfully completed the submarine trip – a very nicely formatted sheet to keep as a memory.

Important information: the activity is not suitable for children under 2 years old.

They also take photographs of everyone as they enter. The photos were nice, so it was not a pity to pay for them: 2 photos – 5 Euros.

We would recommend to book on-line, as the activity is very popular. It is rare to buy on the spot on the same day. We booked on-line in the evening, so we could choose our time quite freely.

No drinks or food can be taken on board, they can be left in a special locker at the ticket office. You can also leave your backpack here(which we did).

There are two seafood restaurants right after disembarking.
