You’ll say it’s getting dark soon, you won’t have time to do anything after school, kindergarten and work? Not really. We invite you and your children to visit as many as 10 places in Vilnius, which you can reach from the city center in less than half an hour and you will have time to visit after work before it gets dark.

The Regional Park Viewpoint

We have told about it more than once – this is a great place known to few. Very nicely arranged, with a small children’s playground and basketball court, benches, gazebos, grill area and a very beautiful panorama of Vilnius.

Three cozy, very nicely arranged places, ideal for family walks and leisure time together. In the park, children will be really impressed by the very realistic sculptures of forest animals. All three places are in very picturesque forests, and everything is very new, neat and accessible even with wheelchairs.

The Gariūnai Sight

Not everyone knows this one yet, so it is not very popular. However, from its heights, a truly magnificent panorama of Vilnius opens up. You can clearly see the TV tower, the bend of the Neris River, and residential blocks clustered together like ants. Definitely worth a visit.

Lookout at Lake Balsiai and Footpath

The green lakes are not only beautiful in summer – you can make sure of that by visiting Lake Balsiai. There is a picturesque 7 km long hiking trail around the lake, we recommend choosing it at least on the weekend, as it will take a lot of time to walk the entire trail with children. Near the beach is the Balsiai lake lookout, which offers a great view of the lake and forests.

Markučiai Park

This is another favorite of ours and also ideal for train watching, mums of boys take note. It’s a very small but really nice park with ponds in the center, not really crowded, so it’s perfect for a quiet walk.

Plikakalnis Exposure Observation Deck

In another way, it is known as the Lazdynai sight. It is already a really popular place, where you will meet many people like you who will want to admire the Vingis Park, Vilnius University Botanical Garden and the beautiful bend of the Neris River.

Valley of the old thief in Neris

This is a brand new and unfinished place that you just have to visit. These are newly installed bicycle paths from Ozo and Linkmenų streets, as well as a pedestrian path that can be used to reach the city center. It is an extremely modern and innovatively equipped walking place with children’s playgrounds, active sports and recreation areas. In addition, it is ideal for walking with strollers. Even though it is the center of the city, you will be surprised how beautiful the panoramic views are when you walk through this valley.

Rokantiškiai Castle and Strielčikai Pedestrian Path

Another very favorite place of ours, which enchants you with its natural colors in autumn. Especially after climbing the Rokantiškiai castle. We’ll let you in on a secret if your kids love trains, just like ours do: it is from this castle site that you can observe the frequent passing trains, as they are perfectly visible. The territory itself is equipped with footpaths with stairs and resting and viewing areas, information stands and pointers. You can choose a 2.5 or 3.5 km trail. A really great choice for a short walk in the evening.

Bernardine Garden and Three Crosses Hill

We often forget what is closest to us. If we ask the people of Vilnius when was the last time they were on the Hill of Three Crosses, not everyone would remember. It’s a shame, because it’s the most ideal place to admire the old town in autumn. After admiring the panorama, be sure to go down to the Bernardine Garden and let the kids have some fun.

Viewing area in Verkiai

This observation deck is located in the architectural ensemble of the Weeping Palace itself. It offers a truly wide view of the Neris Valley, Turniškiai Forest, Trinapolis Church and Valakupiai.
