Varnikai Cognitive Trail with children
The Varnikai Cognitive Trail was closed in 2023 for reconstruction due to its very poor condition. The reconstruction is now complete and the Varnikai Cognitive Trail with children is the perfect place for a walk. Most of the trail is a forest dirt path. And the rest is a new wooden construction, through a marsh. So it is really pleasant and comfortable to walk. In many places, the old wooden path, or parts of it that have been replaced, are still visible.
This 5 km long walking trail is easy to follow for nature lovers. It’s circular, so you will return almost exactly where you left your car.
Exact coordinates of the trail can be found on the Sightseeing with Children map.
This nature trail is located in the Varnikai Botanical-Zoological Reserve, to see a huge variety of flora and fauna – from young trees to oaks, lichens, mushrooms, lakes, swamps, birds and insects.
Perfectly suited for a stroller
Most of the trail is a new wooden structure, so it is very comfortable to use a pushchair or walk with children. The rest of the trail, although not wooden, is really easy to navigate with a stroller. Even with a simple stroller, you can manage the trail. It’s very nice that there are several benches on the path, so it’s easy to stop for a rest or a snack.
