TV Tower: Entertainment for families

Vilnius Television Tower is not only the highest building in Lithuania, but also one of the most visited tourist attractions in Vilnius. For us it is also a place of nostalgia – one of the most memorable tour many years ago.

Vilnius Television Tower is currently being renovated. The first phase has already started and covers the highest part of the tower, including the outdoor terrace above the restaurant “Paukščių takas” (eng. Milky Way). The “Paukščių takas” is also being renovated on and we are particularly looking forward to its renewal. The first thing Greta and Oskaras noticed on our return to Vilnius was that the TV Tower is very bright in the dark, with a new LED lighting system that allows the tower to shine in different colours on important dates and holidays. The TV Tower welcomes everyone, with a variety of entertainment for families.

TV Tower: Entertainment for families

Vilnius TV Tower is a great attraction where you will have a unique opportunity to experience a bird’s eye view of the city. The impressive 326.4 metre high TV tower currently offers a wide range of entertainment and activities for the families.

Toliai Restaurant and Observation Deck

TOLIAI – a new space on the capital’s skyline! Unforgettable sensations at 170 m or 67th floor if you compare it to apartment buildings. Here you can enjoy not only the food, but also the stunning views. You can enjoy a 360° panorama through the windows of the Toliai indoor observation deck, and in the warm season you can take a stroll on the open terrace or try the “Altitude entertainment” on the edge of the TV tower.

The bistro-bar offers light snacks, coffee and a really tasty pastry during the day, and hot snacks in the evening. Unforgettable views not only for family and friends, but also for personal celebrations and business events.

New in restaurant Toliai! Enjoy the golden autumn from the highest open terrace in the whole country and the weekend BRUNCH, where we will certainly not go without EGG BENEDICT, WAFFLES, COFFEE and MIMOZAS. Brunches will take place on Saturdays and Sundays, 11am-2pm. The price includes a lift – a great opportunity to visit the TV Tower observation deck!

The observation deck is suitable for children – it’s fenced off with a sturdy net for safety, so it’s definitely worth going up the TV Tower with kids! However, the observation deck is only open in good weather and is not accessible in winter.

High Altitude Entertainment

Vilnius TV Tower invites you to one of the most memorable adventures! A short briefing and you are ready to experience the feeling of total freedom at a height of 170 metres.

We’ve tried it too! The hour dedicated to this activity passed very quickly. We walked, we walked back, we approached the edge with confidence and the bravest ones had the chance to sit on the edge. An incredible experience, which we believe is a must for both Vilnius residents and visitors.

It is true that the activity is only suitable for children from 14 years of age, but our Greta said we will definitely come again when she and her brother can go. They accompanied us the whole time as we walked along the enclosed terrace.

We felt really safe – they gave us a very clear briefing, and even allowed us to carry our specially attached phones.

Travel with older children, give to friends, invite family, bring guests.

Be sure to book in advance, as only 8 people can go there at a time.

Debesys – Meeting Room and Apartments

Debesys (eng. clouds) – the space above the Toliai restaurant, even on the 68th floor!

The DEBESYS meeting room has panoramic windows that open directly onto the distances of the capital and is ideal for a wide range of business and executive meetings, board meetings or unique training sessions.

Or for a romantic adventure in the sky, book an apartments in the country’s tallest building. There are two double apartments in the clouds:

UPES (eng. river) apartment – these apartments offer unique views to the old town of Vilnius and the bend of the River Neris.
MIESTO (eng. city) apartment – Vilnius city lights and the spectacular night skyline.

Paukščių takas

Restaurant Paukščių takas is currently being renovated. The restaurant, located on the 66th floor of the tower, rotates 360° in 55 minutes, allowing you to enjoy an ever-changing view of Vilnius. This is an exciting experience for adults and children alike, as you get a bird’s eye view of the city. The reconstruction promises to make the rotating platform even wider and more comfortable for TV Tower guests. We look forward to its opening!

Educational events and exhibitions

There are several exhibitions in the tower, commemorating important historical events, in particular the events of 13 January 1991. These exhibitions are informative and educational, helping young people to understand Lithuanian history.

New! During the daytime, a video guide about the TV Tower, its history and the transformation of its spaces will be shown on the impressive 3*2 m LED screen in Toliai at 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM  and 3:30 PM on weekdays (time can be changed).

During national holidays and other occasions, the lights of the tower shine in different colours or changes colours according to the Lithuanian flag.

There is a fee to visit the tower. Discounts for children, disabled persons, seniors. Family tickets are also available, and children under 4 years of age can visit free of charge. More information on ticket prices and visiting procedures can be found on the TV Tower website.

There is also free parking for visitors by the TV Tower. If you can’t find a space there, you will find it in the street.

The TV Tower also takes care of visitors’ comfort by offering to leave clothes, wheelchairs and larger backpacks in special storage areas before going up to the upper floors to make the visit as comfortable and safe as possible for visitors.

The ascent is short and without any negative sensations. A really family-friendly place for families with children!

TV Tower: historical significance

Completed on 30 December 1980, the Vilnius TV Tower is not only the largest building in Lithuania, but also an important symbol of the country’s history. At 326.4 metres high, the tower is the 8th highest in Europe and the 26th highest in the world. Compared to the world’s most famous highest buildings, our TV tower is higher than the French Eiffel Tower (300 m).

The tower is famous for its role in the events of 13 January 1991, when 14 armed civilians died defending Lithuania’s independence. These events are commemorated in an exhibition on the first floor of the tower.

Be sure to visit the TV Tower with the whole family! And the autumn is especially good for admiring the colourful autumn of Vilnius.
