Why did we choose Plateliai, you may ask, and why did we travel almost 300 kilometres one way? The water of Lake Plateliai is one of the clearest in Lithuania, and you can also visit islands while boating in Lake Plateliai. The bottom of the lake is very clearly visible near these islands. The first one is the Veršiai island, where you can see interesting vegetation and a variety of fish swimming by. The second island, the historic Castle Island, also offers a glimpse of the piles of a sunken 15th century bridge. At that time, this bridge led from the island to Plateliai itself.
We also sailed along the shore of the lake, so we could see many birds and ducks in the meldew, and we could observe their life up close.
