TOP30 Viewpoints in Tenerife with Children

If you’re travelling around the island of Tenerife and you want to see at least a minimum of the island and take some nice photos, stop at the most beautiful viewpoints. These are marked in Spanish with the MIRADOR sign or just a photocamera sign.

We’ve selected our TOP30 viewpoints in Tenerife for you with children. We’ve grouped them according to mountains and national parks: Masca, Teide, Anaga and others.

Important: never leave your most important personal belongings (wallet, documents) in the car, even if it is locked. Always be safe, especially in tourist areas!

Our advice: get out, walk around, look around, some viewpoints have short hiking trails nearby, cosy mountain towns.

If you are travelling in Tenerife with younger children and want to travel comfortably, make sure you have a hiking baby carrier to carry your children comfortably when travelling. You don’t have to bring it with you from Lithuania. Contact us, we have proven, reliable partners who offer a special service to our followers. Feel free to contact us and travel comfortably with your children!

Masca TOP4 Viewpoints

Mirador de Cherfe

One of the first of the most beautiful viewpoints, worth a look if you go from Santiago del Teide. The viewpoint itself is made up of two branches facing each other, separated by the TF-346 road that connects Masca with Santiago del Teide. There is a small promontory nearby from which you can take the most amazing photos.

Location: Ctra. TF-436, Santiago del Teide

Mirador de Masca

The main and most beautiful viewpoint. The viewpoint is located a few metres above the village of Masca and offers a magnificent view of the town and the Bay of Masca. Take a stroll around Masca town, stop for a coffee in a little restaurant and enjoy the beautiful views.

The journey to the Masca Gorge begins here. If you are interested, please read more, as pre-registration is required.

Important! We do not advise travelling with children, and it is not allowed children under the age of 8 to hike this trail. After a long period of closure due to accidents in the gorge, hikers are now taken more seriously – appropriate footwear etc. By the way, once you have descended the gorge, there is no longer any possibility of taking a boat – you will have to go back on your own. Therefore, please assess your own and your older children’s abilities very responsibly.

Location: C. La Piedra, Masca

Mirador Altos de Baracán

Exceptional place, right at the top of the peak, on the road linking Las Portellas and Masca, makes it possible to appreciate the marked climatic changes between the northern and southern slopes. If you’re lucky, you can enjoy the sun until the rain falls a few metres away. You’ll have panoramic views of the Barranco de Los Carrizales, El Palmar mountain and the El Palmar valley. And we love this viewpoint because the mountain from this place looks like a cake. Why do we call it that? Take a drive and let us know if you can also see the cake.

Location: TF–436, Buenavista del Norte

Mirador de Cruz de Hilda

This viewpoint has a little café on its rooftop with panoramic views of the surrounding area. Mirador de Cruz de Hilda is located in the municipality of Buenavista del Norte.

It is surrounded by cultivated mountain terraces and palm groves.

Location: TF–436, Buenavista del Norte

Teide TOP10 Viewpoints

Top of Teide (Viewpoints Pico Viejo and La Fortaleza)

Undoubtedly the most spectacular and highest viewpoints in Tenerife. Climb up and you’ll be left speechless, not only by the views but also by the thinner weather. The Teide volcano is located at an altitude of 3,718 m above sea level.

From the base station, board the cable car for an 8 minute ascent to the highest peak in Spain. The top station of the cable car at 3,555 metres. Here you’ll find the Pico Viejo viewpoint and La Fortaleza viewpoint with spectacular views to the north and south of the island. The Bravo Trail leads to the highest point of the volcano at 3,718 metres. To visit the summit, special permits must be obtained in advance. However, if you are travelling with children, the views from the cable car station will certainly suffice.

Important: people with heart problems, pregnant women and children under 3 years should not take the cable car because of the health risks that the high altitude can cause. And it’s certainly not just a warning, as some people are afraid to go by cable car or others may feel faint at the top because of the thin air.

A guide, transfer and cable car tickets – the whole package can be purchased in advance.

We also like to watch sunsets and stargazing. You’ll find lots of photographers and stargazers in Teide at nightfall. Why? Because the further you go from the city lights, the more and brighter stars you can see. You can even find a meteor shower calendar online. It’s unbelievable experience and impression. We recommend you to try it!

Location: Teide National Park

Mirador de Ayosa

At around 2,000 metres above sea level, it is hidden amongst pine trees and lush highlands vegetation. From here you can see the valley of La Orotava, the top of La Madre ravine and the pine forest of Los Aguamansa. Teide can be seen in the background of the hillside, and the silhouette of the island of La Palma a little further away.

Location: F-24, La Orotava

Mirador de Chipeque

A beautiful view of Teide opens here. Behind it, the Teno mountain range looms like a shadow, with the silhouette of the island of La Palma in the background. The viewpoint is located in the municipality of Santa Úrsula, at an altitude of around 1,830 metres above sea level. Especially recommended when Teide is covered in snow.

Location: TF-24, St. Ursula

Cruz del Carmen

Enjoy panoramic views of Valle de La Laguna with its surrounding towns, mountains and Teide Volcano. The Cruz del Carmen viewpoint is the most important point in Anaga Park, as it is the starting point of the various hiking trails in this area. There is also a visitor reception centre and a café there. There is a restaurant on the other side of the street – we don’t recommend eating there, there are certainly better places to eat Spanish food.

We recommend you to take your children on the Sendero de los Sentidos (sensory path), the easy version of which is only 340 metres long. On this path you will enter a laurel forest where you can smell its scents, see its colours, feel its different textures and hear the sound of the forest. And it starts at this viewpoint.
