Visitor Center of Žagarė Regional Park

In the Žagarė visitor center, you will learn everything about the history, natural heritage and nurturing of the region of Žagarė and its surroundings. There is a nature school, a unique exposition “History of the Dolomites”, an exposition of the honorary citizen of Joniškis local researcher J. Kazlauskas “History of the Žagarė region” is hosted here, and various exhibitions are presented here too. The expositions of the visitor center will tell you about the journey of Žagarė over time, hunting, the New Žagarė manor, the peoples who have lived together here for more than 200 years, local crafts, Žagarė horses, the natural treasures of the regional park, nature reserves, the tradition of the Cherry Festival, the unique Žagarė dialect, as well as about famous personalities – Father Stanislaw, Archbishop Julijonas Steponavičius and Barboras Žagarieta.

Visitors are also invited to a new interactive exhibition about the history and development of the Žagarė manor park, as well as the work of the architect dendrologist G.F.F Kulfaldt who designed it. In the new exposition, the attention is drawn by the abundance of interactive elements and games.

The Regional Park Visitor Center of Panemunė

In this park, the exhibition “Nemunas and life near it” awaits you.

The exhibition “Nemunas and life near it” is located in a former tavern built in the 18th century, but now, the Panemuniai Regional Park visitor center is built here. In the interactive exhibition, visitors will get to know the Nemunas River, coastal flora and fauna, and people’s lives. A lot of attention was paid to shipbuilding, river fishing, pastoralism, fishing and other businesses and crafts related to the river.

Žemaitija National Park Visitor Center

In this visitor center, you will find the exposition “Secrets of Žemaitija.”

On the first floor, you will find the exposition “Let’s travel around Lake Platelia” where you can familiarize yourself with the formation of this lake, bottom relief, islands, underwater world, water entertainment, visited places of the park, pedestrian and bicycle paths. Here you can learn Sami words and sayings by arranging the equivalents of Lithuanian and Sami words on the magnetic board according to the ornaments.

On the second floor, there’s the nature exhibition. There, you can follow the tracks of the wolf and travel through the mysterious night forest, where you will see not only this predator, but also other animals and hear their voices. Try to identify different plants by their smell.

Different birds wake us up at different times with their songs, which you can listen to – they seem to turn the hands of the clock. A mushroom book will help you identify mushrooms. You can try to guess the types of trees by their wood, leaves and bark, enjoy colorful and diverse plants, butterflies and beetles in the meadows. The inhabitants of the park’s waters are also introduced.

Gražutė Regional Park Visitor Center and Maritime Museum

In the very center of Salak, you will find the visitor center of Gražutė Regional Park. There, a great guide walks you through the Gražutė regional park. There are some magic boxes for children with huge puzzles, there is a drawing corner for children, and if you have more time, the whole family can play educational games with local maps, sorting themes, etc. As Aleksandra herself says, “Very nice guide!” When asked if there is a changing table in the center, she thought about it and said – “um… there is not, but we will definitely come up with something if necessary!”

In good weather, you can book 2-5 km hikes on the most interesting trails (Degučiai, Antalieptė) by prior arrangement.

Maritime Museum… Not by the Sea

The V. Žilinskienė Maritime Museum is also located in the visitor center, which, as the locals say, is the farthest maritime museum from the sea in Lithuania. Children and parents of any age will have fun here. The exhibition is extensive, and if you could meet the owner of the exhibition (currently her health does not allow her to communicate with visitors, she is over 90 years old), you would get hundreds of the most interesting stories about each exhibit and the history of its origin. Be sure to pat the mask there – that means that all of your wishes will come true. And if the weather outside is not pleasant, you can turn on the television in the visitor center and watch a film about the Maritime Museum exposition while sitting comfortably.

Dubysa Regional Park Visitor Center

The exhibition of the visitor center contains activities suitable for children from 6 years old, comes with appropriate education using large (1.5×2 m) puzzles with the symbol of the park, the machaon butterfly, the largest Lyduvėnai railway bridge in the Baltic states, and underpasses painted in autumn colors, with the help of adults.

Kurtuvėnai Regional Park Visitor Center

In the Kurtuvėnai Regional Park Visitor Center, you will find the exhibition “Landscape Diversity.”

The visitor center of the Kurtuvėnai Regional Park has been established in the restored wheelhouse of Kurtuvėnai Manor. In the “Landscape Diversity” exposition installed here, visitors, while walking among the “giants”, will get to know the values ​​of the Kurtuvėnai Regional Park, the concept of the landscape, its structure, change, and preservation in an interesting way. The visitor center provides information about the areas visited in the regional park, educational trails, and tourism services.

Visitor Center of the Veisiejai Regional Park

The visitor center is located in the preserved right wing of the Veisiejai manor palace (built in the middle of the 18th century). The Veisiejai regional park visitor center exhibition “Life in the Waters” opened its doors in the spring of 2015. Historical, natural, cultural and tourist information is presented in the exhibition spaces.

The little ones will like the stands with plant and animal puzzles, voiced fairy tales. Seniors will be able to demonstrate their skills in map reading tasks. In the visitor center, you will also find out which routes can be traveled on foot, by bicycle, by car, by horse or by kayak in the territory of the Veisiejai Regional Park.

The cellars of the Veisiejai manor palace are also suitable for visits, which impress visitors with authentic vaults in the late baroque style and regularly renewed exhibitions of artists in the temporary exhibition hall.

Here you will get to know the unique values ​​of the regional park. The main theme of the exposition is presented as a sung natural and cultural heritage, revealed in numerous literary works.

The exhibition is rich in audiovisual material.
