Puerto de Mogán in Gran Canaria, also known as “Little Venice” because of its charming canals and bridges, is a picturesque resort and fishing village in the south-west of Gran Canaria.
Puerto de Mogan in Gran Canaria
The town of Puerto de Mogan in Gran Canaria is a must-visit if you are on holiday in Gran Canaria. It’s a beautiful, charming, blooming and very cosy town, where you can not only stroll around but also find activities for your children. Puerto de Mogan is also one of the places in Europe with the most days of sunshine per year.
This cosy fishing port in the south of Gran Canaria still retains the atmosphere of a typical island fishing town. Its unique architecture contrasts with the flowers in the gardens and the bridges and canals. Stroll through the streets of the town, walk to the harbour, admire the water channels, the beautiful architecture, the flowering arches and squares.
Be sure to find a street with pictures of local life on the walls.
Every Friday, the town hosts a colourful market selling souvenirs. There are also plenty of souvenir shops and cosy, exclusive restaurants.
A cosy town for both day and evening strolls. We always come back to this town when we visit Gran Canaria.
Puerto de Mogan in Gran Canaria – Entertainment
We highly recommend trying a submarine excursion. This unique experience gives you the chance to see the seabed, shipwrecks and marine life through large observation windows. Our recommended submarine excursion in Gran Canaria is the one in Puerto de Mogan, where you can also choose to go on a boat trip to see whales and dolphins. We recommend an ocean trip with a surface diving activity.
You can also have fun with your children on the beach in Puerto de Mogan. The beach is small but white sandy and ideal for children. The water is calm and warm, thanks to the natural rocks that protect the bay from strong waves and currents. All the necessary amenities are available, including showers, toilets, lifeguards and umbrellas and sunbeds for rent. A children’s playground is nearby.
If you visit in February or March, you can also visit the Mogano Carnival, a colourful festival with parades and concerts.
Where to eat in Puerto de Mogan
There are a number of seafood and fish restaurants. Our friends tried the restaurants in the harbour, where there is a submarine stop.
We tried Mr. India restaurant with its authentic Indian cuisine, delicious food and excellent service.
