A magical Elf village is being created in the VDU Botanical Garden. Eeach house is unique. This new place in Kaunas: Elf village is extraordinary, because you’ll have to look hard to find these houses, which are only the size of a hand!
Barely the size of a hand, the houses with miniature details are starting to sprout in the Botanical Garden of Vytautas Magnus University (VDU). Curious visitors heading towards the children’s playground should be on the lookout for elf houses in old stumps or tree roots. A new place in Kaunas: the Elf village – the creations of the creative dad of two kids Gediminas Visockis.
Little Elf Village
Each of the carefully furnished Uncle Gedas Elves’ houses is unique. Has its own story and its own inhabitants, according to a press release from the VDU Botanical Garden.
However, these inhabitants are unlikely to be seen by visitors. Because the little elves and their Lithuanian cousins, goblins, are very good at hiding. However, the inscriptions above the tiny doors will tell the story of the building’s inhabitant. And allow the stories to unfold. Five houses can now be found, inhabited by Majus the Elf, Marcius the Elf, Smikis the goblin, Laimutis the goblin and Ben the Elf. Five more houses, one after the other, will soon be popping up near the playground.
“Each house is distinctive, made of natural materials, so it blends organically into the environment. Their production requires a lot of patience. Every detail has been carefully thought out and created as a miniature copy of certain objects. I am sure that the search for the houses will become a fun activity not only for children. And the stories will awaken the people imagination,” said Gediminas.
These small houses are made of various wooden parts, string, buttons, metal parts, ice-cream sticks, nails and coloured with different coloured paint. A few of the little forest inhabitants – the workers – even have shovels by the door.
Educational activities are also planned to take place in Uncle Geda’s Elf Village.
