Grybai Manor is a cosy, 16-year-old family farm located in the village of Purnuskes, near Vilnius. It features an inn and stables with 15 family horses and ponies. The stables are specially equipped for entertaining and educational events, family holidays and family fun. The owners also keep sheep, goats, birds, cats and a dog. All those looking for a place to celebrate their special occasion are welcome here. We ensure that birthdays and celebrations at the Grybai Manor Stables are a memorable experience for children and adults alike.

Programme of celebrations

Birthday parties at Grybai Manor Stables (Grybu dvaro arklides) start with a tour of the stables and an introduction to the surroundings and the farm’s inhabitants. After greeting the guests and handing out flowers, the hosts tell more about the history of the Grybai Manor and the horses that live there, giving the birthday person a real horse-shoe, which is said to bring good luck. Everyone is then introduced to the general rules and etiquette of interacting with horses.

Birthday feast

After the introductions, a handmade buffet-style feast of snacks, grown in the hosts’ garden, drinks and music, begins. The stables themselves have a table to sit at, a coffee and tea corner, a drinks corner, and a bar where adults can enjoy an authentic tasting of a smoked sausages, ham, bacon, pickles and onions.

Some of the food changes seasonally, but there has never been a party without boiled potatoes, which we eat with flaxseed salt and just with our hands, because it tastes better. Now we cook real borscht, and sometimes we serve the potatoes with the right kind of bacon and freshly pickled cucumbers. For refreshment, we offer water, cranberry vinegar, rhubarb drink or similar. Young and old alike will eat, even children who don’t seem to eat anything at all. Then, right here in the stables, on a real fire with real old pans, we make tasty pancakes, maybe even the best in the world. Due to the abundance of food prepared by the hosts, we recommend not to bring a large cake or any extra snacks, everything will be taken care of.

Horse riding

Once everyone has had their fill, the ponies and horses are saddled and the little ones, with the help of coaches, ride in the square, with their parents watching and taking photos. The horse is usually chosen according to the age of the rider; there is a very small pony for the two-year-olds to ride, a larger one, or a miniature or even a large horse. We sit the children down, take them for a ride, give them helmets, the little ones are held by dad or mum to make them feel more comfortable. Although children are usually the ones who ride at parties, feel free to discuss with the hosts if the adults would like to enjoy this activity too.

After riding, you can continue to interact with the horses, petting and watching them, or playing outside. You can also spend time with other farm animals. Then it’s on to baking and tasting the pancakes, cutting the cake and saying goodbye to the stables of the Grybai Manor.

Birthdays and celebrations at the Grybai Manor Stables – practical information

The stables at Grybai Manor are open and welcoming all year round, in all seasons.

Parties at the Grybai Manor Stables are usually for groups of 20 people, but everything can be arranged with the owners, who can accommodate individual needs.

The standard start times are 11.00, 14.30, 18.00, sometimes negotiable, and the schedule is more flexible on weekdays.

The party lasts for 3 hours, during which the guests can enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the manor house and socialise with all its lovely inhabitants. The duration of the party can also be extended, but the hosts recommend 3 hours to prevent children from getting too tired.

There are also educational activities for children who want to interact with the horses, pet them, learn how they are cared for and fed.

The stables at Grybai Manor are a truly unique place that will enchant everyone who comes here. “Travel 4 kids” visited the Grybai Manor Stables for the first time during their open days. And we were simply amazed by the place!

Imagine a simple but exquisitely styled stable like something from the old days. The kind you see in the movies or read in the best novels! As soon as we arrived, we immediately thought it was the perfect place for a photo shoot, a film shoot or a private party. The stables at the Grybai Manor are full of authenticity and are cared for by the wonderful owners. They are run by a very charismatic family. Like living legends, the owners welcome every visitor with a warm smile and exceptional hospitality. Their passion for horses and their way of life inspire everyone around them, spreading warmth and joy. They remind us that true value lies in the simple things that create unforgettable moments and impressions.

It’s very simple, but very nice and cosy. The host makes pancakes that taste perfect, the music is playing and the surroundings are fantastic. Believe me, pictures or words are not enough to describe the charm of this place. You have to come here yourself.

Open days

If you follow the Grybai Manor Stables Facebook account, you will find out about the open days. It’s a great opportunity to have fun with your family. When we arrived, we were greeted by the owners, who told us about the history of the stables and many interesting things about the horses that live here. We then had time to get to know the horses on our own, pet them and feed them. Afterwards, we had a wonderful feast prepared by our hosts (borscht and boiled potatoes). After the feast, the most welcome part of the Open Doors was the horse-riding test. While the children were riding, the host made the most delicious pancakes we have ever tasted. After the open day, we went home with the best impressions and emotions.
