Babylon Gardens – miniatures and botanical park
Gardens of Babylon – miniatures and botanical park is the perfect place to introduce children to the world’s most spectacular buildings and wonders. It is a lively place to learn about history and the world. Babylon Gardens is a little further away from Klaipeda. You will find it on the Klaipeda-Palanga road. It’s Lithuania’s first and only miniature and botanical park! Clearly visible from the road, so it’s easy to find.
The 4 hectares of landscaped grounds are home to miniature versions of some of the world’s most famous architectural buildings. It’s great to see that each miniature is labelled with the country in which the original was built and what makes it special. There is also a brief history, so it is really interesting to read.
In the park, you can see the famous Sydney Opera House, the romantic Trevi Fountain, the London Bridge, Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate and the Arc de Triomphe. In addition to the New Wonders of the World, such as the Taj Mahal, the Colosseum and the Great Wall of China, the old ones, such as the Pyramid of Cheops and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, have also found a place in the Park. In total, you’ll discover 21 of the world’s most famous architectural structures in the Gardens of Babylon. All of them are spread over a spacious 4 hectares.
As well as admiring the park’s miniatures, waterfalls and fountains, you can also listen to the music of each region of the world as you stroll through the park and sit on a bench.
Tulip Blossom Festival
Babylon Gardens opened for the summer season. And this opening coincided with the Tulip Blossom Festival! We were really surprised by the enormous beauty of the tulips and various flowers. The organisers tell us that 3 million tulips are in bloom here. In addition to tulips, daffodils, herbs and other plants bloom here.
During the festival, guests will be welcomed by the inhabitants of the “Garden of Babylon”. The poet Vincent, will give visitors a lot of funny jokes and compliments. Danutė, a Lithuanian woman who is crazy about Lithuanian culture, will tell the most interesting stories about significant events in the country. And the charming princess of Babylon Gardens, for whom her husband founded the park, will make you feel as if you were in a royal palace where everything is meticulously decorated.
We were really impressed by the meticulously landscaped park, which is very well maintained. And the best part is that you can buy seedlings in the park.
Fun for children and delicious food
It’s great that there’s also a wonderful playground for children. The playground is really big and there are lots of activities for children. They also have a trampoline for the kids.
It is very convenient to be able to watch the children playing while sitting on the terrace of the café. By the way, entrance to the park is FREE for children under 5!
We really liked the café here – it’s really cosy, very stylish and serves delicious food.
The Tulip Blossom Festival in Babylon Gardens is an event that we can confidently recommend, as our whole family enjoyed it.
